Adaptation is the process of adjusting human and natural systems to actual or expected climate impacts in order to reduce harm, use opportunities and strengthen resilience. Climate-resilient development goes further: it integrates adaptation, mitigation, sustainable development, risk reduction, governance and equity into one planning pathway.
