Thematic Evidence Discovery
Climate Evidence Themes
Search climate evidence by environmental system, risk question or implementation challenge. The live map now places the same eight themes directly beside geography, dataset, date and rendering controls.

Indicator evidenceGlobal Temperature and Emissions Trends
Track observed warming, greenhouse-gas emissions, sectoral patterns, national trajectories and the relationship between current trends and long-term climate goals.
- Temperature records and anomalies
- Global and national emissions inventories
- Per-capita, sectoral and historical perspectives
- Trend interpretation and uncertainty
Live map contextForests and Land-Cover Change
Explore forest condition, vegetation cover, degradation, recovery, land conversion and restoration signals using satellite imagery, validated land-cover products and field evidence.
- Sentinel-2 and Landsat visual inspection
- Forest and non-forest classifications
- Historical land-cover comparison
- Field verification for causal claims
Live map contextWater Stress and Drought
Examine water availability, drought pressure, surface-water change, vegetation stress, watershed condition and exposure of communities and ecosystems.
- Surface-water and landscape context
- Precipitation and drought indicators
- Watershed and terrain interpretation
- Seasonal and long-term comparison
Thematic layer pathwayWildfires and Burned Areas
Connect fire occurrence, burned-area evidence, vegetation recovery, drought conditions and local preparedness while distinguishing observation from emergency warning.
- Active-fire and burned-area datasets
- Pre-fire and post-fire imagery
- Recovery and vegetation-condition monitoring
- Preparedness and local verification
Live map contextBiodiversity and Ecosystem Condition
Assess habitat condition, vegetation structure, ecosystem productivity, fragmentation and nature-based resilience through remote sensing, official biodiversity evidence and field knowledge.
- Vegetation and habitat context
- Fragmentation and landscape connectivity
- Ecosystem productivity and stress
- Species and field evidence where appropriate
Thematic layer pathwayGlaciers, Snow and Mountain Systems
Explore snow cover, glacier condition, mountain climate, elevation, upstream-downstream water connections and the exposure of highland and downstream communities.
- Snow and ice observations
- Elevation, slope and mountain geography
- Seasonal and historical imagery
- Water and hazard linkages
Risk evidenceClimate Hazards and Vulnerability
Connect hazards with exposure, sensitivity, adaptive capacity and institutional readiness without presenting contextual imagery as an operational warning system.
- Heat, flood, drought, fire and landslide context
- Population, infrastructure and ecosystem exposure
- Vulnerability and adaptive-capacity indicators
- Preparedness, early warning and response systems
Policy evidenceInternational Climate Commitments and Implementation
Review climate commitments, national plans, adaptation priorities, finance, transparency and implementation progress alongside environmental outcomes.
- Paris Agreement and national commitments
- NDCs, adaptation plans and long-term strategies
- Climate finance and implementation capacity
- Monitoring, reporting and accountability
Evidence discipline: the themes use different evidence types. Satellite imagery is appropriate for visual Earth-observation context, but temperature, emissions, vulnerability and climate commitments require authoritative indicator, policy and institutional sources. FWI will label each source type and validation status separately.
